History of the Trinity

The Christian concept of the Trinity is a rather controversial doctrine, which wasn't fully established until the 4th Centure C.E. Here we will look at the history of the Trinity and the incarnation doctrine of Jesus as God. The Council of Nicea (325 C.E.) was utilized by the Roman government as a tool to decide once and for all as to the nature of Jesus Christ's divinity and the Christian concept of God. The end result was the adoption of the Nicean Creed, which formally established the Roman Catholic orthodox view. The established idea of the Trinity was most notably the work of the Church Father and bishop Athanasius, who pushed the idea through the Nicean Council. As we shall see, later theologians would expand upon this idea, including Saint Augustine.

My belief is that the early Christians had no concept of a trinity BUT many other religions did including the Babylonians. My stance is that the "trinity" was borrowed from them and interjected into Christianity where it does not belong.

Nice hub about the Trinity. Interesting how the Romans were so inquisitive to the powers Of Jesus during His earthly ministry! Thank you for sharing and look forward to more about this subject!
